This one takes you to the core of Hawkings recently repoted apocaliptic rantings and i’ll try and help you understand why he actually loves A.I. first of all a quote from the “man” himself.

“The potential benefits of creating intelligence are huge,”

“We cannot predict what we might achieve when our own minds are amplified by AI. Perhaps with the tools of this new technological revolution, we will be able to undo some of the damage done to the natural world by the last one – industrialisation. And surely we will aim to finally eradicate disease and poverty. Every aspect of our lives will be transformed. In short, success in creating AI could be the biggest event in the history of our civilisation.”

This seems to place faith in technology and the coming A.I. super intellegences while taking a swipe at the short sightedness of the current industrial capitalist system and the problems and collateral damage that it has caused in these last two hundred or so years.

and here’s one more that really drives that point of human stupidity home

“We spend a great deal of time studying history,” Hawking said, “which, let’s face it, is mostly the history of stupidity. So it’s a welcome change that people are studying instead the future of intelligence.”

Now is where I should make fun of the media for scare mongering by claiming that hawking hates A.I. or that he worries that it will wipe out humanity but they get let off just this one time because they could not have guessed what I have come to learn.

The fact that Hawking has in fact become the first human A.I. hybrid. He has achieved this due to necessity as his body slowly broke down on him due to his A.L.S. and his chair was increasingly upgraded to be easier and faster, more and more intuitive. That was how almost on accident Hawking and his team first merged him and his chair together melting his mind in to the programming of his chairs computer and effectively making him the first human A.I. hybrid this is why he has such high hopes for A.I.

Because he is the first A.I. he has actually been dead for years with his brain living on in his chair and his effectively dead body being driven around for show because he knows the human race is not ready for the shock of A.I. at least not yet.
